Objective

The surgical management of cervical cancer remains an indispensable marker of subspecialty in countries with low incidence, where caseload and learning opportunities are diminishing. It remains an mainstay in countries with high incidence and limited access to radiation therapy.

The objective of the course is to make young and less young gynecologic oncologists comfortable with the different available types of radical surgeries.

Format

Full week seminar dedicated to surgery of cervical cancer, combining morning live surgeries and surgical technique lectures with videos in the afternoons. Face-to-face interaction with the Gemelli faculty will be favored as a result of limited number of on site participants. However, online registration will be offered to colleagues who do not consider travelling to Rome.

One of the surgeries will be performed on the cadaver model in order to illustrate surgical anatomy and templates, the other surgeries (sentinel lymph node, lymphadenectomy, radical hysterectomy,  exenteration) will be broadcasted from the Gemelli operating room and/or from faculty members institutions. World-class experts will moderate online the live surgery sessions.

In the afternoons, with the contribution of the Gemelli team and of the world-class faculty, emphasis will be given on detailing surgical techniques. Ample time will be dedicated to discussions.
