SCIENTIFIC RATIONALE
It is important to know that following a successful transplant, pregnancy is possible, however, pregnancy in kidney transplant recipients is a challenging event, due to side effects of immunosuppressive medication, risk of deterioration of allograft function, risk of preeclampsia and hypertension, and risk of of premature birth and adverse fetal outcomes. The optimal time to conception continues to remain an area of debate and breast-feeding is also frequently contraindicated, although based on recent reports it should not be discouraged. These and many other issues deserve debate and discussion.
This 2 days meeting is mainly aimed at an international audience of tx nephrologist, tx surgeons, gynecologists, infectious disease doctors, neonatologists , tx psicologists, living kidney donors and recipients of a kidney transplant. It will help transplant professionals in medical optimization and counseling of renal transplant recipients of childbearing age.
